Nationally, Alpha Epsilon Phi currently has two main philanthropies which are: The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation and the Sharsheret Breast Cancer Foundation.
Some Backround on our National Philanthropies...
Sharsheret
Sharsheret provides culturally sensitive support to young Jewish women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer as well as to those facing the risk of developing breast cancer, and offers related resources for Jewish communities and health care organizations.

Sharsheret is a national organization of cancer survivors dedicated to addressing the unique concerns of young Jewish women facing breast cancer.   Sharsheret, Hebrew for "chain," was founded in 2001 by Rochelle Shoretz, a former Law Clerk to United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who recognized the need for a breast cancer organization that would provide culturally sensitive support for Jewish women after her own diagnosis at age 28.   Since the organization's founding, Sharsheret has responded to thousands of phone calls from health care professionals, Jewish organizations, women's organizations, women affected by breast cancer, their families, and friends.

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids
Elizabeth Glaser was an alumni of Alpha Epsilon Phi at Wisconsin State University. Elizabeth Glaser contracted the AIDS virus through a blood transfusion in 1981 while giving birth to her daughter, Ariel. She and her husband,   later learned that Elizabeth had unknowingly passed the virus on to Ariel through breast milk and that their son, Jake, had contracted the virus in utero.

The Glasers discovered, in the course of trying to treat Ariel, that drug companies and health agencies had no idea that HIV/AIDS was prevalent among children. The only drugs on the market were for adults — nothing had been tested or approved for children.

In 1994 after her passing the foundation was named after Mrs. Glaser.

The foundation has established its reputation as the leading worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to funding and conducting scientific research for children with HIV/ADIS.The Foundation had one critical mission: to bring hope to children with AIDS.
